Professional speakers seek to motivate and inspire listeners. For example, a blind mountain climber says, "I made it to the top of K-2..." implying that listeners also can overcome hardship and succeed. However, we often overlooked that the blind speaker had to learn climbing skills as well as overcome adversity. Guts alone will not win a boxing title or carry you to the top of Everest. Without skills, you can easily die in boxing or mountaineering.
In communicating, the fatality is you will not convince. Upward hooks or downward jabs in boxing are definable and demonstrable. So are persuasive techniques for presenting and writing.
Paul's speaking engagements are inspiring and entertaining but the main purpose is to teach listeners specific skills. His participants are energized by learning techniques. Their motivation comes from processing new knowledge—not emotional hype.
Presenting Topics.
For "presentation" speaking engagements, Paul asks for volunteers and promises them 100% improvement. He then walks the volunteers through "before and after" exercises showing how to change. Viewers love it, since they know each volunteer and realize that the improvement is real—not staged.
Writing Topics
With "writing" speaking engagements, Paul leads the group through techniques that produce conciseness and persuasion. At the end of the session, Paul shows the group a way to measure exactly their future improvement.
Both topics prompt learning. Participants leave with a strong confidence that comes from acquiring a new skill. Audiences particularly enjoy these engagements because they see themselves improve even during the session.
Tell us the amount of time you need to fill and we will suggest writing or presentation information that best fit your group. Then we'll send you a DVD that shows us teaching those techniques. You can see exactly how the content, advice and skill building will benefit your group. Obviously, the more time allotted, the more content and techniques covered.
For longer talks, a client favorite is to cover both writing and presentation techniques. This mix makes for a nice variety and shows how good communications affect performance and increase results.
We’ll teach your group how to hit the ground running after their heads come down out of the clouds.
